Dale Whitfield, 83, of Hannibal, MO, died at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015, at Luther Manor Retirement Center in Hannibal.

Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 24, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, MO. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Ron Pasha of Hannibal, MO, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dale was born November 17, 1931, in Dresden, MO, the son of Linden and Viola Whitfield. He married Patricia Croy on December 23, 1951, and she survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Whitfield; and a grandson, Joshua Whitfield.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one sister, Beverly Nelson, of St. Joseph, MO; one son, Steve Whitfield (Donna), of Springfield, MO; and two daughters, Suzy Kaser (Eric), of Frankford, MO, and Kim Evan (Cindy Shutts), of Chaffee, MO. He loved his family and was blessed with nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are his grandsons: Trip Jones, Alan Corley, Brandon Rose, Louis Kaser, Phillip Kaser, Brian Kaser and Grayson Gregory.

Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters: Stephanie Jones, Laura Whitfield, Candice Evans, Alisha Corley, Erin Kaser, Lacey Kaser, Mary Kaser and Joo Won Kaser.

Dale was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sedalia. He loved the Lord and was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and superintendent at various other churches.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS New Jersey, the USS Missouri, and the USS Juneau from 1950 to 1954.

He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 46 years and retired in 1996.

He was passionate about sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, the KC Chiefs, and the Missouri Tigers. He volunteered as an umpire and referee while living in Springfield, MO.
