Donald Kenneth Lewis, 83

Donald Kenneth Lewis, 83, of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at his home.

He was born October 6, 1930, in Smithton, son of Kenneth L. and Edith E. Cramer Lewis. On July 16, 1950, at Georgetown United Methodist Church, he married Elva E. Huddleston, who survives of the home.

Mr. Lewis worked for many years at the Missouri Pacific Shops before working for John Deere Implement for 15 years. He later returned to the shops, from where he retired. He was a member of Georgetown United Methodist Church, the Georgetown Community Club and NARVRE. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, coin collecting, going to auctions and working jig saw puzzles with his grandchildren. He was an outdoorsman and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1954.

In addition to his wife of 64 years, survivors include two children, David Lewis, and wife, Pegge, of Olathe, KS, and Lindy Thomas, and husband, Marshall, of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Geoff, Joshua, Cory and Nate Lewis, Brittney Gaspard, and Danny and Kacey Thomas; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma McConnell, of Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenny Cripe officiating.
Casket bearers will be Herb Mittelhauser, Tom Miller, Jeff Mittelhauser, Pete Phillips, Kenny Combs, Eric Walton and Flint Walton.

Honorary bearers will be Butch Phillips, Zac Walton, Frank Dow, Ernie Dow, Bill Dow and John Drenon.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home.
