Dorothy Jean Pittman, 85, of Sedalia, died Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center.

She was born April 5, 1929, in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of the late Jesse H. Pangburn and Mary Helen VanBenthem Pangburn. On February 3, 1951, at St. Patrick Church in Sedalia, she was married to William H. Pittman who passed away on September 28, 1999.

Mrs. Pittman lived her entire life in Sedalia attending St. Patrick Grade School and Sacred Heart High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Church where she taught in the CCD program and took communion to the sick and the elderly.

She is survived by a son, James F. Pittman, of Sedalia; a brother, William Pangburn, of Byron, CA; a grandson, Jay William Pittman; a step-granddaughter, Cady Meyer, both of Sedalia; and a step-great-grandson, Blake Duncan.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charley E. Pangburn.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with Father Mark Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Rob Sneed, Robert McCarty, Ivan Ream, Alan Ream and Lawrence Ream. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 am until service time.
