Dorothy Rose (Lanpher) Wells age 92 passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center. She was born on January 22, 1923 in Valles Mines, MO daughter of Leo B. Coleman and Pearl Whitsel Coleman Lovely. On October 4, 1941 in Raton, New Mexico she was married to Maurice P. Lanpher and she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years and one brother, Joseph Coleman.

On May 3, 1975 in Sedalia she married Charles T. Wells who preceded her on August 15, 1979. She grew up in Valles Mines and attended school in DeSoto, MO, where she met her first husband. During W W II she worked at Carter Carboretor in St. Louis while her husband served in the Navy overseas in Ireland and England. She moved to Sedalia in 1948 for her husband's job as a signalman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad.

She spent her early years in Sedalia as wife and mother. In later years she was employed as a telephone operator for Sears. She was assistant Brownie Scout leader, volunteered for Meals On Wheels and was always willing to help a neighbor.

She was known by the neighborhood children, friends and family members for her cookies, wonderful care packages and her great baking skills. She is a long term member of the East Sedalia Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Lanpher) Ilges (John), two grandchildren, David Ilges (Shannon) and Kathleen Sluss (Brian), three great grandchildren, Tyler, Michael and Grace Sluss and a long term friend, Ralph Banning. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Douglas officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be with her first husband in a family plot in the Christian Cemetery in Fredericktown, MO.
