Elburn Chaney, 96, of Green Ridge, MO passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Fairview Nursing Home, Sedalia. He was born on July 21, 1917 in Windsor, MO, a son of George and Pearl (Horning) Chaney.

On April 13, 1941 in Sedalia he was united in marriage to Kathryn Poindexter, who preceded him in death on August 20, 2011.

Elburn enjoyed going to all the sale barns around the area, being on the farm, raising his cattle, and riding horses. He was a member of Green Ridge Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

He is survived by two children, Pat Thornton (George) of Sedalia, David Chaney of Green Ridge; one sister, Reta Faye Warren of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Cam Vickers, Stephanie Gardner, Kim Alexander, Kathy Tumlinson; six great grandchildren, Kayla, Chelsea, Kara, Cheyanne, Kiley, Jacob; and three great great grandchildren..

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Schlotzhauer, Lorene Williams; and three brothers, Rev. Willis Chaney, Ralph Chaney, and Roy Chaney.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 24, 2014 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Rev. Bill Talley officiating.

The family will receive friends at the chapel one hour prior to service.

Interment will be at Green Ridge Cemetery following the service.
