Eldo Lee Palmer, 87

Eldo Lee Palmer, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born February 21, 1925, in Hughesville, son of Ora E. and Christine Lugen Palmer. On August 9, 1946, at First United Methodist Church in Sedalia, he was married to Beth Helman, who survives of the home.

Mr. Palmer was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he had served as a church trustee. He was a member of NARFE and a former member of the Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening, and taking his family on camping trips. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

He retired from civil service at Whiteman Air Force Base, where he worked in the radio shop. He was a Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, earning the rank of Tech Sergeant.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, survivors include three children, Bruce Palmer, and his wife, Pat, of Green Ridge, Tom Palmer, of Marshall, and Peggy Williams, and her husband, Jack, of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Kim, Heather, Jessica and her husband, Cory, and Haley; and two great-grandsons, Bryce and Aiden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wade L. Palmer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, at First United Methodist Church at 4th and Osage in Sedalia, with the Rev. Jim Downing officiating.

Casket bearers will be Larry Claycomb, Bill Dale, Gary Eck, Gerald Evans, Bob Lamm and Cliff McBride.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2591.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Heckart Funeral Home.
