Emily Ann Viets, 90, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at her home.

She was born April 7, 1924, in Cole Camp, a daughter of the late Dr. Lewis Arthur Taylor, Sr. and Ida (Wenig) Taylor. On June 4, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, she married Eugene C. Viets, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2009.

Ann was raised and educated in Cole Camp. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Drury University and a Master’s Degree from University of Missouri.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was a past member of the Altar Guild and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband.

Ann was a homemaker. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, pianist and gave piano lessons out of her home. She loved animals, especially her dog, Lucy.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary McIntosh and her husband, Jack, of Sedalia, and Jane Leis and her husband, Mark, of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Tiffany Thomas, and her husband, Matt, Chasity Pollina and her husband, Mike, Audra, Andrew and Thomas Leis; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob and Zachary Thomas and Anthony, Ashley and Courtney Pollina.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Lewis Arthur Taylor, Jr.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sedalia, with Reverend Jeremy Freeman officiating. Pallbearers will be Matt Thomas, Andrew Leis, Thomas Leis, Jay Fajen, Jim Meyer and John Meyer. Burial will follow in Cole Camp Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
