Additional Information

Communities across the nation, including the Sedalia area, struggle with assessing and finding resources to deal with behavioral health problems, such as substance abuse and mental health issues. To help bring some clarity to the issue and share best practices identified in previous community studies, the 9th annual Health Summit, hosted by the Blue Ribbon Health and Wellness Planning Team, will focus on mental health.

The summit will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the First United Methodist Celebration Center, 1701 West 32nd Street. Civic leaders and professionals involved in treatment or societal repercussions of substance abuse and mental health issues are encouraged to attend. Participants should RSVP as soon as possible by calling 660-827-9480 or e-mailing jdodick@brhc.org. Preregistration will begin at 5 p.m. on Oct. 9.

Information shared at the Health Summit will include the results of Pettis County data collected by the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development at Michigan State University. The survey was a project of the MU Center for Health Policy and the Healthy Community Partnership, which includes MU Family and Community Medicine and the Sedalia Blue Ribbon Health and Wellness Planning Team.
