Additional Information

The Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra will perform their 3rd concert of its 51st Season Sunday, February 16 beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Harold L. Lickey Auditorium of Bueker Middle School in Marshall. Guest soloist will be conductor Kevin Lines on trombone. This last minute change in programming became necessary when the scheduled soloist cancelled his appearance due to medical reasons. This concert has been generously underwritten by Fitzgibbon Hospital and Community Bank of Marshall.

Lines is returning to the stage as a trombone soloist having performed with the orchestra 2 decades ago during its 31st season. He is currently in his 27th year of teaching instrumental music, having held his current position of orchestra director for Marshall Public Schools since 2001. Lines earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Central Methodist College, Fayette, and his Master of Arts in Music Education from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg. He studied both trombone and euphonium with instructors Ron Anson and Charles McAdams. The selected solo for the day is “Concertino, Op. 4” by 19th Century German composer, Ferdinand David. Conductor Emeritus, Charles Ferguson, will graciously take the baton for this feature.

MPO supporters know that although the weather outside has been most frigid, music warms the hearts and spirits of young and old alike on a dreary mid-winter Sunday afternoon. The Marshall Philharmonic encourages all area residents to come out and enjoy a free program of exquisite classical music right in your own hometown.
