DESCRIPTION:State Fair Community College will offer a Missouri Concealed Carry (CCW) firearms course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 in  Potter-Ewing Agriculture Building Room 402 on the Sedalia campus.    The course will provide instruction in the types of firearms to be concealed; safe loading\, unloading\, storage\, and carrying firearms concealed; and current state and federal codes\, including those defining lawful firearm use.    The course will last at least eight hours and include classroom instruction and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.    Instructor is Bill Chapman. Cost is $149. SUMMARY:Basic Motorcycle Course
DESCRIPTION:“Give us a Weekend\, We’ll Make You a Biker!” is the theme of State Fair Community College’s Basic Rider motorcycle course this fall.    The course is designed for beginning or re-entry riders who want to learn how to operate a motorcycle safely. Little or no knowledge of motorcycle operation is necessary.    The final class for this fall is scheduled Oct. 26-28 on the Sedalia campus.    Class will meet from 6-10 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The course includes a minimum of five hours classroom instruction in Room 609 of the Automotive Technology Building and at least 10 hours of practical riding in a controlled\, off-street environment.    Cost is $199; motorcycles are provided for use during class. Students are encouraged to bring their own helmets\, but loan helmets are available. All helmets must be DOT certified and in good condition with labeling intact.    Each class is limited to 10 students. Students must enroll early enough to read a study guide and complete a pre-course assignment.    Riders will learn straight-line riding\, turning\, shifting and stopping; cornering\, swerving and emergency braking; how alcohol and drugs affect the ability to ride safely; how to create a strategy for riding in traffic; and what to wear for protection and comfort.    Instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and the Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program.    Riders who pass the class will receive a Missouri Motorcycle Safety Program completion card\, which can be used to waive the skill portion of the Missouri State Highway Patrol motorcycle license exam. DESCRIPTION:The El Dorado Saddle Club\, Hoofprints Stables and Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of West  Central Missouri are teaming up on Saturday\, Nov. 17 to present the first annual “Teach &amp; Trot”. This is an equine event sure to pique the interest of both the horse-savvy and those who have never had an introduction to the world of horsemanship. Teach &amp; Trot will take place at Hoofprints Stables at 6925 E. Highway 50\, about three miles east of Sedalia. Beginning at 9 a.m\, experienced horse handlers will offer the public demonstrations ranging from horse healthcare to horse shoeing to dressage. Presenters will include local large  animal veterinarian\, and Club board member\, Dr. Dana Gillig\, professional ferrier and trainer Rod Sullivan\, and 2012 Youth of the Year at Heber Hunt Elementary Shaye Siegel.    In addition to these informative demonstrations\, the Saddle Club will provide horse and pony rides for all ages\, and a Kid’s Carnival with crafts and face painting will be offered.  Admission for Teach &amp; Trot is a free-will donation. Horse rides and some children’s activities will be available for an additional fee. The event lasts until 5 p.m.\, and the Smithton Boys &amp; Girls Club Torch Club members will offer a nominally priced lunch. All the day’s proceeds will benefit the Boys &amp; Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri.

SUMMARY:State Fair Lions Crappie Tournament
DESCRIPTION:The State Fair Lions Club is hosting their annual Crappie Tournament.    It'll take place on Saturday\, April 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Bucksaw Marina on Truman Lake.  Entry is available for anyone over the age of 12\, ages 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.  There must be two people to a boat\, entry fee is $40 a boat.  Check in is at 5:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. Saturday.  Pre Tournament meeting will be at 7:00 a.m.  For more information\, or to enter\, contact the State Fair Lions office at 660-826-3729

SUMMARY:SFCC Youth Sports Signup
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for State Fair Community College’s summer youth sports and cheerleading camps at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the Sedalia campus.    Instructors will include the SFCC basketball coaching staff and student athletes\, plus other college and high school coaches and athletes.    • Roadrunners basketball camp for grades 3-12 will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 10-12. Cost is $95 per person. Emphasis will be on improving basketball skills and having fun. Campers will be organized into age groups.    • A shooting camp for boys and girls in grades 3-12 will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 13 and 9 a.m. to noon June14. Cost is $50. Campers will learn proper shooting form\, and each camper will receive a personal shot evaluation to help improve shooting ability.    • Lady Roadrunners girls basketball camp will be held June 17-20. Grades 3-7 will meet from 9-11:30 a.m. and grades 8-12 from 1-3:30 p.m. Cost is $70. Emphasis will be on improving basketball fundamentals and having fun.    •  Lady Roadrunners Mother-Daughter Pajama-Rama Overnight basketball camp for girls in grades 3-12 and their moms will be held from 6:30 p.m. June 21 to 1 p.m. June 22. Cost is $60.    • Pee wee basketball camp for boys and girls in grades Pre K- grade 3 (ages 4-8) will meet from 9-11:30 a.m. June 24-26. Cost is $50 per child on or before June 14\, or $55 after that date. Children will learn the fundamentals of ball handling\, including how to pass\, dribble and catch a basketball.    • The SFCC Spirit Squad will host a youth cheerleading camp from 1-4 p.m. July 8-10 for students in grades K-8. Cost is $40. The camp will include individual instruction on cheerleading fundamentals\, including cheers\, dance\, stunts\, and stunt safety.
