Spofest will have a reading featuring Dr. Steve Wiegenstein, Associate Dean at Columbia College, Tuesday, July 17, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m at The End Zone Sports Bar & Grill on the outside patio.

Wiegenstein, of Columbia, is currently Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. He attended the University of Missouri where he received a Ph.D. in English. He has taught at Centenary College of Louisiana, Drury College (now "university"), Culver-Stockton College, and Western Kentucky University. He will be reading from his new book, "Slant of Light."  Along with Wiegenstein, the tentative line up of local and area poets will be: Zach Alarcon, Steven Dotson, Tony Shaffer, Faith Bemiss, James Bryant, Dr. Douglass Kiburz, Marianne Bedwell, Deck Savage and Lela Merrill.

An hour long concert by Sedalian, Travis Demoss, will kick-off the event at 6:00 p.m. Demoss has been playing music for more than twenty years and is in a band called Boone Howlers.  Opening for Mr. Demoss with a short acoustic set will be Brandon Lozano, Service Coordinator for the Center for Human Services,  SpoFest promotes the writing and public sharing of poetry in the Sedalia, Mo., area by providing multiple and varied poetry-reading venues throughout the calendar year.
