The West Central Missouri Aggies Young Farmers will meet to discuss grain storage at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 in Potter-Ewing Agriculture Building Room 402 on the State Fair Community College Sedalia campus.

Everyone is welcome, and admission is free. Refreshments will be served.

Guest speaker will be Kent Shannon, a natural resource engineer with the University of Missouri Extension office in Columbia. He will discuss how to maintain grain in optimum condition while in storage, as well as safety issues and available technologies related to grain storage.

Shannon grew up on a diversified crop and livestock farm northeast of Macon and received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He began his extension career in 1992 as an agricultural engineering specialist in Kirksville. In 1998 he became associate director of the Missouri Precision Agriculture Center.

He works to educate Missouri crop producers and their advisors through on-farm research and provides training and consultation on the use of spatial data analysis software and hardware, such as Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS).
