Glenn Edward Miesner, 85, of Cole Camp, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia.  He was born on November 4, 1928, on the family farm near Ionia, Missouri, a son of John H. and Emma Catherine (Harms) Miesner.

Glenn attended grade school at Ionia and St. John's at Cheese Creek.  In 1947, he graduated from Cole Camp High School.  On August 17, 1952, at St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Cole Camp, he was united in marriage to Elaine Louise Borchers.  He lived and worked on the family farm near Ionia until his retirement.  In 1999, he and Elaine moved to Cole Camp.  He also did custom combining and trucking for area farmers.  After his retirement, he worked for the Benton County Road Department.  He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Cole Camp.  He was baptized on November 11, 1928, and confirmed on May 24, 1942, at St. John's Lutheran Church by Pastor J. T. Roschke.  He held numerous church offices, serving as President, Elder, and Trustee.  He was also a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Men's Club.

Glenn was a charter member of the Lutheran School Association Board of Directors, served as President of the Board of Directors of the Producers' Exchange #84 of Ionia and Lincoln, and was on the Central Missouri Electric Cooperative Board of Directors for seven years.  He was a member of the Mannerchor, German Club, and Plattdütsch (Low German) Theatre.  He enjoyed being with his family, gardening and keeping his lawn nice, and smoking meat for numerous social gatherings in the area, but mainly he enjoyed life.

He is survived by:  his wife, Elaine Miesner of the home;
two daughters, Karen Oelrichs and her husband Fred of Cole Camp and Glenna Sanlis and her husband Ted of Livermore, CA;
one daughter-in-law, Deborah Goecker and her husband Wayne of Clarinda, IA;
one son-in-law, Dennis Wischmeier of Brownstown, IN;
one sister, Helen Harms of Cole Camp;
one brother, Elmer Miesner and his wife Alice of Cole Camp;
ten grandchildren, Ryan Oelrichs, Gregory Oelrichs, Lynn Doogs, Dana Oelrichs, Kristin Comer, Julie Warren, Amy Wisneski, Andrew Miesner, Katy Sanlis, and Robert Sanlis; and
ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Miesner, his daughter, Wanda Louise Wischmeier on June 18, 2014, and his son, Robert Eugene Miesner on October 24, 1984.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Cole Camp, with Pastor Michael Boothby officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cole Camp.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the church with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to The Lutheran Hour, St. John's Lutheran Church, or Lutheran School Association in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Oelrichs, Dana Oelrichs, Andy Miesner, Robert Sanlis, Stephen Doogs, Kyle Warren, Matt Comer, Andy Wisneski, and Gregory Oelrichs.  Honorary pallbearers will be J. D. and Carol Williams, Kenny and Kathy Harms, James Lee Sanders, Jim and Judy Brockman, and Phil and Mary Haluptzok.
