Grain Valley Man Killed in Jackson County Accident

A Grain Valley man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday morning in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2013 Kia Optima, driven by 57-year-old Timothy L. O'Brien of Grain Valley, was on the ramp from eastbound I-70 to Missouri 7 around 6:30 a.m., when The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a pole. O'Brien was transported to Centerpoint Hospital in Independence and later pronounced dead at 7:22 a.m., by Dr. Smith. O'Brien was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.
