A Harrisonville man was killed in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday morning in Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2021 GMC Sierra, driven by 66-year-old Willliam F. Smith of Harrisonville, was on I-49 at mile marker 150.8 (south of Harrisonville) around 8 a.m, when the GMC traveled off the right side of the roadway, and struck a bridge support pillar. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:40 a.m., by Central Cass Fire Captain Zsiercks. Smith was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.
