Helen Kathryn Bauer, 91, of Cole Camp, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Good Samaritan Care Center, Cole Camp.  She was born on May 21, 1921, at the family farm south of Cole Camp, a daughter of Fred C. and Clara (Meier) Heisterberg.   On June 19, 1921, she was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Pastor Karl Nierman.  She publicly confessed her faith through the Rite of Confirmation on April 14, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp by Pastor Karl Nierman.   In 1939, Helen graduated from Cole Camp High School.  She then went to work in Kansas City.  After a year and a half, she returned to Cole Camp, where she worked in the grocery department of the Producers Exchange.  On November 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Edward H. Bauer, who preceded her in death on July 22, 1998.  This union was blessed with the gift of a daughter, Ellen.   She worked alongside her husband farming for over 50 years.  In 1990, they moved to town and  she resided in their home until January 9, 2013, when she moved to Ambrose Park.  After suffering a stroke in February of 2013, she moved to the Good Samaritan Care Center.   Helen was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cole Camp.  She enjoyed working in the garden, having flowers, quilting with a group of women at the church, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends.  For many years, she kept a daily journal.  She was a former member of the More-Lore Extension Club, St. Paul's Lydia Circle, and a volunteer at the Cole Camp Museum.   She is survived by:  her daughter, Ellen Harms and her husband Don of Cole Camp; two grandsons, Bryan Harms and his wife Sarah of St. Charles and Jason Harms of Kansas City; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Avery of St. Charles; a sister, Evelyn Steffens of Cole Camp; two brothers, Leonard Heisterberg of Cole Camp and Leroy Heisterberg of Shawnee, KS; two sisters-in-law, Paula Heisterberg and Edna Heisterberg, both of Cole Camp; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Clara Heisterberg, three sisters,  Erma (in infancy), Esther Worden, and Thelma Brockman two brothers, Olaf Heisterberg and Marcus Heisterberg.   A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Sandy Schlesselman officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, rural Cole Camp.   The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.   The family suggests memorial contributions be given to St. Paul's Sewing Group, Cole Camp Senior Center, or Cole Camp Museum in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.   Pallbearers will be Leslie Heisterberg, David Heisterberg, Melvin Steffens, Joe Brockmann, Bryan Harms, and Jason Harms.
