Hermine Combs, 75, of Sedalia, MO, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014.
She was born March 20, 1939, in Fürth, Germany, daughter of George and Klara Käferstein.
She was married to Philip J. Combs, Sr. on December 12, 1958, and relocated to the United States shortly after. She then settled in Sedalia in 1961, where she has resided ever since. Mrs. Combs was a nine-year employee of Rival Manufacturing. She left Rival to join her husband Phil in the family business. She worked side-by-side with her beloved husband for more than twenty years.

Hermine enjoyed being outside, mowing her yard and tending to her many beautiful flower gardens, but when weather would not allow her to be outside she retreated to her kitchen table where she put together thousands of jigsaw puzzles in every shape imaginable. The greatest joy in her life was spoiling her grandkids and spending time with her loving family.

Hermine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to everyone. She treated everyone as if they were part of her family.

Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by her parents, George and Klara Käferstein; her husband, Philip J. Combs Sr.; and three brothers, Eugene, Oscar, and Rudolph Käferstein.

She is survived by her son, Philip J. Combs Jr., and his wife, Jan, of Boonville; daughters, Doris Hockaday and Norma Jean Combs; granddaughter, Tracy Gerlach, and her husband Dan; granddaughter, Shannon Hockaday; and one GREAT-grandson, Zachary Gerlach, all of Sedalia; four sisters, Gunda, Betty, and Margaret, of Fürth, Germany, and Amelia of Clarksville, TN; and one brother, George Käferstein of Fürth, Germany.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Chaplain Bill Douglas officiating. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, at Heckart Funeral Home.
