The Industrial Development Authority (IDA) met for their annual Board of Directors meeting Tuesday at the EDSPC offices at US Bank, 3615 W. Broadway, and reelected Barbara Hayden as their president and Paul Beykirch as secretary.

This is Hayden’s sixth term as president. “It’s almost like a pre-planned habit,” she joked after the meeting. The IDA works to attract new business to the Sedalia and Pettis County area, she explained. “It’s a very good tool to use for those who would like to relocate their business to our community. If they’re an existing business and they wish to come to Sedalia, Mo., that’s awesome. If they’re a brand new business and they want to come here, that’s also great.”

Hayden also serves as CEO of Starline Brass, 1400 W. Henry, where plans call for a new rifle case line. “We are doing that now and we should have them ready to market in another couple of months. We are starting with the .308 and the .223, some of the more common calibers that are in demand. Then we’ll add others,” Hayden said.

This will be Starline’s third expansion since locating to Sedalia in August of 1992, she noted. Robert and Barb’s son Bobby serves as executive vice president of Starline. Robert moved Sierra Bullets to Sedalia in 1990.

The two highly-successful companies will be featured in the annual Sedalia Showcase, scheduled for the last Thursday of the 2016 Missouri State Fair in August, along with the newly expanded and relocated Black Dawn Armory and Range, 1511 N. Ohio, according to IDA Executive Director Linda Christle.

The Sedalia Showcase will be an all-day affair, with presentations to all three industries to be held at Bethel Assembly Church, located nearby at 1201 William Parkhurst Drive. A VIP dinner will conclude the evening’s festivities. Local and state officials, as well as local industrial CEOs, will be invited,
