The Kansas Department of Corrections said 43-year-old Michael Stroede walked away from the Lansing Correctional Facility at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday.

He was described as a minimum-custody offender.

Stroede is 5'10',180 pounds with tattoos across his upper body and arms.

He was serving nine years for a drug conviction and has seven prior convictions dating back to 1999.
