Monday, January 28, 2013 5:20 PM James Lloyd Bennett, 92, of Sedalia, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Fair View Nursing Home.

He was born on July 26, 1920 in Sedalia a son of Charles M. and Louise (Heidorn) Bennett.   He graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1940 and was one of the first SC Tiger football players.  He liked machinery, tools and his horses.  He enjoyed drinking coffee and arguing with democrats. James served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II.  He was a member of VFW Post #2591.   He is survived by one niece, Sandra Berlin (Kenneth) of Alaska; one great niece, Beth Bystedt (Mathew) of Monroe, WA; one great nephew Brad Berlin (Carolyn) of Portland, OR; best friend and caregiver for the last 4 years, Al Kindle of Sedalia.   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Bud Bennett and two sisters, Dorothy Bennett and Marie Pafford.   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Rea Funeral Chapel with Rev. Corbett Martin officiating.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.   Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Ken and Brad Berlin, Matt Bystedt, Tom and Jason Kindle and Brad Anderson. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post #2591.   Honorary bearers will be John Boatman, C.A. Green, Laura Mahin, Marvin Gibson, Janie Fellichall, The Hardees Crew, The Pit Stop Crew and all US Veterans present for service.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the Association for Persons with Disabilities or VFW Post #2591 in care of the funeral chapel.
