Jennifer Y. “Jenny” Thompson, 50, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at University Hospital in Columbia.

She was born September 16, 1963, in Chillicothe, a daughter of H. Matt Dillon and Mary Hayes Reiter. On January 17, 1987, in Columbia, she married Randy J. Thompson, who survives of the home.

She attended Smith Cotton High School. She received an Associates Degree in Nursing from SFCC, and later attended UCM. She worked in Pediatrics at University of MO Children’s Hospital, Columbia from 1987-2001. She was a Christian. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cross stitch, swimming and having fun. She was a huge lover of animals; but most of all, she loved her grandbabies that brought her so much joy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, H. Matt Dillon (Sue Kirkham), of Independence, and Mary E. Reiter, of Sedalia; four children, Barry Thompson and Jeremy Thompson (Lindsey), all of Joplin, Chelsea Thompson (fiance Brandon Furr), and Kyle Thompson, all of Sedalia; two sisters, Julie Randall (Jim), of Aurora, CO, and Jeanne Tunis (Terry), of Sedalia; and five grandchildren, Bre, Dalton, Daniel, Keana and Braxten.

Funeral service will be 1 pm, Friday, August 22, 2014, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with Pastors Merry & Tony Kroeger officiating. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be noon until service time.
