John Albert Zullig, 84, of Cole Camp, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.  He was born on December 21, 1929, at Sampsel, Missouri, a son of Arthur and Mabel (Holman) Zullig.

He attended Sampsel Elementary School and Chillicothe High School.  He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.  In 1947, he went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1975.

On August 13, 1950, in Chillicothe, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Slattery.  This union was blessed with the gift of four children:  Cindy, Ronald, Jeff and David.

John was a 50-plus member of Utica Lodge 180 AF & AM, a member of the 32nd Mason Lodge of Kansas City, a past worthy Patron of Eastern Star #106 of Knob Noster, a member of Pettis Chapter #279 of Sedalia, a member of White Shrine Chapter #38 of Sedalia, and a member of United Methodist Church, LaMonte.  He was active in 4-H Club and Cub Scouts.

He is survived by: one daughter, Cindy McGlothlin and her husband Rick of Belleville, Illinois; two sons, Ronald Zullig and his wife Jean Ann of Gilroy, California, and Jeff Zullig and his wife Karen of Sedalia her husband Muriel of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Chris McGlothlin, Adam Zullig, Morgan Hammond, Nathan Zullig, Santasha Zullig, Tiffany Zullig, and Barry Pabst; and three great-grandchildren, Madison, Lux, and Zaiden.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Zullig, his parents, Arthur and Mabel Zullig, his step-mother, Rosetta Zullig, a son, David Allen Zullig, and two sisters, Clara Mae Cooper and Rose Mary Perriman.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Chillicothe, with military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014, at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp with a masonic service to begin at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Benton County Hospice or Belleville Family Hospice in care of the Fox Funeral Home, PO Box 37, Cole Camp, MO 65325.
