The Lady Gremlins kicked off their 2023 Season at the Fr. Tolton tournament, where they were 2-1-2, coming home with third place.

Captain Sammy Altena led the team and really dominated, especially in the 3rd place game when the team was getting tired going into their 5th game of the day. Sammy gave everything she had and her teammates followed her lead and they won in two against Tipton, 25-19 and 25-18. Sammy led the Gremlins with 23 kills for the day.

Junior Sophia Carney was strong at the net with 8 blocks and 16 kills. In the back row she led the team with 33 serve receives. Sophia was aggressive both at the net and in the back row. Against Fr. Tolton we were down by 10, she served 7 in a row getting us back in the game where we won 25-23.

Senior Ellie Coruna got us started with 6 serves in a row after losing (19-25) the first set against Linn in pool play. This set the tone for the team, and they won the set to split with Linn 25-16.

Freshman Kynslee Prewitt made her high school varsity debut, serving in every game and not missing one, she went 22/22 for the day. Not only did Kynslee have a solid day behind the serving line, but she also really stepped up in the back row working hard and making some great digs.
