Lucille Jane Bechtel, 90, of Kansas City, formerly of Sedalia, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born June 15, 1925, in Omaha, NE, the second of four children, to the late Chester and Emma (Whittig) Masters. On September 4, 1948, in Boonville, she married William Howard Bechtel, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2011.

Lucille was a graduate of Stover High School and Southwest Baptist College, Bolivar. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a librarian at the Sedalia Public Library for 20 years.

She is survived by four children, Larry Bechtel, of Long Beach, Ca, Cheryl Swopes, of Hughesville, Rita Freitas, of Sacramento, Ca, and Greg Bechtel, of Shawnee, Ks; a brother, Vern Masters, of Monett; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Evelyn Drews and Rev. Wayne Masters.

Visitation will be 7-9 pm, Thursday, August 20, 2015, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.

Graveside service will be 10 am, Friday, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Marlin Brown officiating.
