Marie J. Chaney, 91, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013.

She was born February 18, 1922 in Sedalia, to the late Joseph P. and Clara M. (Klein) Weller. She attended area schools, graduating from Smith Cotton High School.

On December 14, 1946, in Sedalia, she married Hubert J. Chaney, who preceded her in death on November 1, 1988.

During World War II, she worked for Sedalia Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a long-time secretary for Dr. Floyd Lively, optometrist, in Sedalia, for many years. Hube and Marie also owned Chaney Seed House.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of Daughters of Isabella.

She is survived by brothers Daniel Weller (Oda) of Sedalia and Harry “Pete” Weller (Rosalie) of Phoenix, AZ; sister Bernadine Oehrke (Melvin) of Sedalia; brother-in-law V.B. Eckhoff of Sedalia; along with nine nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

Marie was preceded in death by her sister Anna Eckhoff and niece Jerri Oehrke.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Weller, Tom Weller, Jim Westerfield, Gavin George, Michael Paulakovich and Tom White. Friends may sign the register book from 1pm until 5pm on Friday at the McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
