Marion H. “Papa Jake” Siragusa, 94, of Sedalia, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born April 18, 1920 in Fredonia, NY, a son of the late Anthony Marion and Mary Piza Siragusa. On October 23, 1943, at the Sedalia Army Air Field Chapel in Knob Noster, he was married to Stella B. Swope, who preceded him in death on July 19, 2007.

Mr. Siragusa was an Army veteran of World War II. He and his wife owned and operated Papa Jake’s Donut Shop, starting the business in 1965. He enjoyed people, and loved music and dancing. He loved in a very special way his wife Stella, and was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by three daughters, Sue Jacks; Pat Zahringer and husband Don, all of Sedalia, and Mary Roberts and husband Jim, of Beckley, West Virginia; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Toni Siegel; a granddaughter, Jayme Siegel; three sisters, Vincie Pritchard, Grace Mancuso and Jessie Heid; and two sons-in-law, John Jacks and Vincent Siegel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be John Jacks, Tony Jacks, Kevin Jacks, Andy Williams, Brett Johnson, Cliff Roberts, Jake Roberts, Todd Husdson, Mark Freeman, Chris Canzoneri and Stuart Shephard. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Jayme Siegel Memorial Scholarship Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
