Martha Ruybal, 81, of Sedalia, passed away February 24, 2016, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1934, in Parrel, Mexico, daughter of Jacquin and Eva Sainze Martinez. Martha became a U.S. citizen and spent most of her life in El Paso, TX.

In 1978, she married Conrad Ruybal. Together they enjoyed 32 years.

She had four boys and two girls, who in turn made her a grandmother of many and a great-grandmother of several, too numerous to name.

She is survived by her husband, Conrad Ruybal; two daughters, Virginia Tina Privett and Katrina Privett; two sons, Alfred Jacques, Bernie Bierschbach; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The only surviving member of her immediate family of two brothers and four sisters is her sister in El Paso, TX. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Martha was a dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law and a trusted friend to all. In marriage they were close and mostly, if not always, together. Both enjoyed traveling and dancing and family gatherings around the BBQ cookouts. She had many talents, including modeling clothes, dancing on stage, riding her horse and singing. She managed to make friends easily both in the community and at work.

Her interests were many, but the outstanding one was the concern she had working with the elderly. She donated to Disabled American Veterans and was presented with certificates and was on the commander’s list. She was also generous with the Dakota Indian fund and received acknowledgement of her many donations. The wildlife drew her interest, from whales to wolves, and also the environment.

Due to her husband’s membership in the many veterans’ organizations, DAV and Wounded Warriors, she gave it all. She was an auxiliary member of the VFW local and national, and a member of the Noonday Optimist Club. She was a generous supporter of the local police, highway patrol and sheriff’s departments. She was always willing to give a helping hand to whomever needed it.

She also enjoyed quilt-making, fishing and traveling. She was very active with supporting youth programs. Following in her footsteps as a lover of horses is her granddaughter, Dominique Privett, who is a member of the Muddy Creek 4-H Saddle Club, placing as a “High Point” in the horse show contest.

She chose her employment to help others, assisting elderly at Rest Haven and Sylvia Thompson Nursing Homes. Later she worked at Tyson, where she made a lot of friends. After retiring she worked part-time at Dollar General downtown. She was a humanitarian, and her reward in life was assisting others. She will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Saturday, February 27, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Father Mark Miller officiating.
Casket bearers will be Bernie Bierschbach, Jeffrey Garrigus, Derek Garrigus, Steven Privett, Bradley Privett and Robert Adams.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, at Heckart Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Muddy Creek 4-H Saddle Club.
