Marvin Eugene Sash, 86, of Cole Camp, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Golden Age Living Center, Stover, with his family by his side.  He was born on August 8, 1927, at Laurel, Iowa, a son of Phillip and Effie (Emmack) Sash.

He attended Van Cleave schools in Laurel, IA.  At the age of 14, he took over the family farm and continued farming in Iowa until 1974.

On October 28, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Hulsizer, who preceded him in death on May 22, 2007.  This union was blessed with the gift of four children:  Craig, Dennis, Mike, and Peggy.

On March 7, 1950, he was baptized at St. John's Church of Christ in Melbourne, Iowa.  In 1974, he moved to a farm near Cole Camp and farmed until his last days.  Farming was in his blood.  Marvin enjoyed sitting outside with his dog smoking his cigar, fishing, and driving around his farm on his buggy.  He loved watching fast pitch softball, football, and the Little League World Series and would never pass up watching a good Western.  He loved a good game of pool.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandkids who always brought a smile to his face.  Marvin was always quick witted and had answers for everything.  You couldn’t out smart him!

He is survived by:one daughter, Peggy Mennenga and her husband Marshall of Melbourne, Iowa; three sons, Craig Sash of Newton, Iowa, Dennis Sash and his wife Laura of Cole Camp, and Mike Sash and his wife Barney of Oskaloosa, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Effie Sash, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with  Pastor Tom Turra officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, rural Cole Camp.

The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family which will be distributed in Marvin’s memory at later date in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.

Pallbearers will be Josh Sash, Carl Ray, Tyler Sash, Mike Wright, Jeromy Sash, Matt Sash, Eric Sash, Shawn Mennenga, and Michael Wieland.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dick and Shirley Southard, Bill and Pat Oetker, Doug Denker, Sherry Shearer, Richard Rank, Deb Cates, and Shawn King.
