Maurine Long, 92, of Nevada, formerly of Sedalia, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Nevada Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 3, 1921, in Rocheport, Mo., a daughter of the late William Thomas and Alta Pearl (Reynolds) Ridgeway. On September 6, 1942, in Sedalia, she married Robert H. Long, who preceded her in death on December 17, 2005.

Maurine moved to Sedalia in 1923 and attended Prospect School and graduated from Smith-Cotton in 1939. She also graduated from Central Business College. She worked at Central Missouri Electric Co-Op for 33 years waiting on customers, working as a secretary and was secretary to the Co-Op Board of Directors.

She was a member of First Christian Church and sang in the church choir for 30 years. She loved music and was a member of the Helen G. Steele Music Club and Sorosis. She enjoyed playing bridge. Her greatest joy was raising her two children and being a wife and a mother.

She is survived by a son, Robert Stephen Long, and his wife, Barbara, and a daughter, Pamela Sue Long, all of Nevada; four grandchildren, Kindra Long Smith, Amy Long Fisher, Zachery Long and Lindsay Long Jackson; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Reynolds Ridgeway and a sister, Lydia Elizabeth Witty.

Visitation is noon until service time on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at First Christian Church. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm at the church with Rev. Chad McMullin officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack Gabriel, Roger Ridgeway, Zack Long, Kelly Smith, Travis Jackson, Justin Fisher and Jim Blaine. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call to sign the guestbook and pay their respects from 1 pm-5 pm, Friday, June 6, 2014, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
