Maxine E. Richards, 81, of Sedalia, Missouri, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home.

She was born May 8, 1931, in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of the late Ethel Cooper Orr and the late Henry Curtis Orr.  On April 10, 1948, in Sedalia, she was married to Harold L. Richards who preceded her in death on September 18, 1992.  Mrs. Richards was a homemaker and a retired music teacher.

She is survived by a son, Larry J. Richards, of California; a brother, Hubert D. Orr, of Overland Park, Kansas; two nieces, Janice Shipman of West Linn, Oregon and Rebecca Simmons of Independence, Missouri; one nephew, Robert Orr of Beecher, Illinois; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.  She was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond E. Orr, and two sisters-in-law, Stella L. Orr and Wilmetta Orr.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with the Salvation Army Captain Mark Haslett officiating.  Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in the memory of Maxine Richards be made to Crossroads Hospice, the American Lung Association or Animal F.A.I.R.
