Mignon Amber Wirt, 77, of Green Ridge, died Friday, December 25, 2015.

She was born July 30, 1938, in Norton, KS, the daughter of the late Marvin Huff, Sr. and Leeta (Hatcher) Huff. On June 2, 1962, at Hyde Park Methodist Church in Wichita, KS, she married Paul Wirt who survives of the home.

She was a graduate of Wichita East High School and Friends University. She taught elementary students in the Wichita, Green Ridge, and Sedalia public school systems. She founded a pre-school in her church when the family was living in Niles, MI. After retiring from teaching she began her second career providing daycare to her grandchildren.

Mrs. Wirt was a member of Antioch Fellowship Church. She taught Sunday School and VBS. She was a member of Women’s Aglow. She used her artistic talents as an extraordinary seamstress, and to paint murals, make banners, and create floral arrangements for the church. She worked alongside her husband as they built their family homes.

In addition to her husband she is survived by three children: Paula Schupp, her husband Russ, their daughters, Arden and Roxanne, of Sedalia; Douglas Wirt, his wife Pam, their children, Jenny and Wyatt, of Green Ridge; Matthew Wirt, his wife Tara, their children, Ryder and Gracye, of Sedalia; and two siblings: Marvin Huff, Jr. of Bourne, TX, and Marieta Parham of Wichita, KS.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two siblings, Dean Huff and Lauretta Longhofer.

Funeral service will be 10 am on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Graff officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
