JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – State Rep. Nathan Beard will serve on the House committee responsible for addressing issues important to Missouri’s more than 550,000 veterans. Beard was appointed by House Speaker John J. Diehl, Jr. to serve as a member of the House Veterans Committee for the 98th General Assembly.

This House Veterans Committee is charged with hearing legislation that relates to terrorism and security against terrorism; veterans affairs and the promotion and strengthening of states’ rights and military and naval affairs of the State. Beard said he is excited to begin his service on the committee so that he can better represent his district, which contains Whiteman Air Force Base and a healthy veteran population.

“I want to thank Speaker Diehl for giving me the opportunity to serve on a committee that works to help those who have given and done so much for our country. I am excited to get to work with my fellow committee members to address the issues that can make a substantive improvement in the quality of life for the many veterans who call our area home,” said Beard, R-Sedalia.

In addition to his service on the House Veterans Committee, Beard serves as a member of the following House committees: Ethics, Professional Registration and Licensing, Economic Development and Business Attraction and Retention, and Children and Families.
