Missouri State Highway Patrol Accident Reports: Morning of January 22, 2013

The following accident reports are from the morning of Jan. 22, 2013.

Fatal accident reported early Saturday morning

At 4:45 Saturday morning, the Missouri State Highway patrol reported a fatal accident on Missouri 240 North of Missouri 41 in Saline County.  According to the report, the accident occurred as the 2008 Dodge driven by 65-year-old Rechilda Sample of Slater struck the 2010 Chevrolet driven by 52-year-old Angel Gonzalez Santiago of Marshall head on. Sample was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries. She was taken to the University of Columbia Medical Center by Air Ambulance. Santiago suffered serious injuries, and was taken by Air Ambulance to Research Hospital in Kansas City for treatment.

Two Warrensburg men suffer minor injuries in a Johnson County Friday morning

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle accident that occurred on US 50 Highway West of County Road Northeast 501 in Johnson County early Friday morning. The accident report states that the 2000 Sterling Conventional driven by 34-year-old Justin Kidd of Warrensburg and the 1995 Mustang driven by 39-year-old Jimmy Hursman of Houstonia were both traveling west on 50 Highway. According to the report, the Hursman vehicle struck the Kidd vehicle in the rear, causing minor damage to the Kidd vehicle and totaling the Mustang. Kidd and a passenger, 29-year-old Joseph Brown of Warrensburg, received minor injuries and were transported to Lee’s Summit Medical Center by Johnson County Ambulance for treatment.
