Fatal Accident Reported in Lafayette County Sunday Evening

At 6:25 Sunday evening the Missouri State Highway patrol reported a one-vehicle fatality accident on Westbound I-70 at mile marker 36.4. According to the report the accident occurred when the 2001 Nissan Maxima driven by 36-year-old Maria G. Macias-Perea travelled off the right side of the roadway, and then returned to the right shoulder where it began to skid, and overturned multiple times. The report states 6-year-old Michelle Trejo-Macias, and 9-year-old  Melanie Ayerim-Macias were ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle then travelled off the right side of the roadway again, coming to rest on its wheels. 9-year-old Melanie Ayerim-Macias was pronounced deceased at the scene, and was taken to Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home. A passenger 3-year-old Karla V Noyola-Macias was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment, while 9-year-old Michelle Trejo-Macias, 36-year-old Silbia Aguilar- Macedo, and the driver 33-year-old Maria G.  Macias Perea, were transported to local hospitals by EMS for what were described as moderate injuries. The accident report states all the victims were from Kansas City Kansas, and only the 3-year-old child was restrained.

Two-vehicle fatality accident reported Saturday afternoon in Saline County

Just before 3pm Saturday afternoon the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle fatality accident on Missouri Highway 20 East of Hemlock Avenue in Saline County. The accident reportedly happened as the Eastbound 1998 Dodge Dakota driven by 80-year-old Roland C. Kitchen of Slater crossed the centerline and struck a Westbound 2004 Ottowa Shag Tractor Trailer driven by 57-year-old Jerry L. Young of Malta Bend. Kitchen suffered fatal injuries in the crash, and was transported by Lifeflight Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia where he was pronounced deceased.
