Just after 10am Tuesday morning, Sedalia police responded to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the 500 block of West Main Street. Upon arrival officers found a 2002 Ford Windstar driven by 60-year-old Warren Jackson of Sedalia was backing out of the parking lot of the Liquor Locker at 513 West Main, and struck a pedestrian identified as 64-year-old Lawrence Dean of Sedalia who was behind the vehicle.

A news release from the Sedalia Police Department states Dean was caught and pulled under the vehicle approximately 19 feet before Jackson was alerted by a passing motorist. Jackson stopped immediately, and checked on Dean, but no response.

The news release says Medical Control, Dr. Wilson arrived on scene via the Pettis County Ambulance District at 10:32, and pronounced Dean deceased.

The Sedalia Police Department’s Traffic Unit is still investigating the accident and is seeking information from any possible witnesses, especially the motorist who alerted Jackson.
