Early Sunday morning, while on Patrol, Pettis County Deputies saw a Sedalia Police Officer initiate a traffic stop on a white Ford Escape in the area of US 65 Highway and West 20th Street. The vehicle was stopped because it did not have a front license plate. The Ford failed to yield, and accelerated to flee. Deputies then turned around and attempted to catch up to the pursuit. The Ford turned into the parking lot of Forty Winks, 4013 South Limit Avenue, and then turned around and travelled northbound. Soon after, SPD terminated their pursuit, and the PCSD continued the pursuit. The Ford turned west on US 65 Highway and accelerated at speeds of up to 115 MPH, weaving between lanes, and passing multiple vehicles, forcing them over onto the shoulder. Deputies continued the pursuit west into Johnson County, where the suspect brake checked two different Deputies before coming to a complete stop at Highway 23 and South East 10, South of Knob Noster. Deputies arrested Corey Lee Vogeler, 36, of Lee’s Summit. Deputies did a search of Vogeler’s person before transporting Vogeler to the Pettis County Jail. However, a capped needle that field tested positively for methamphetamine was found on Vogeler’s person by the Pettis County Jail Commanding Officer. Vogeler had four active Failure to Appear warrants for his arrest. One FTA was from the City of Lee’s Summit on a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Maintaining Financial Responsibly, with a cash or surety bond of $400. A FTA warrant out of Johnson County on original charges of Driving While Revoked, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia carried a cash or surety bond of $2,000. Two FTA warrants from Jackson County held charges of felony Tampering With a Motor Vehicle, felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident (from 2021), and Careless and Imprudent Driving Causing an Accident (from 2020). Those two warrants carried a cash or surety bond totaling $4400. The Ford Vogeler was driving was confirmed stolen out of Kansas City. Vogeler was booked in at the Pettis County Jail on new charges of felony Resisting Arrest by Fleeing/Creating a Substantial Risk, Driving While Revoked, Operating a Motor Vehicle in a Careless or Imprudent Manner, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Tampering With a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree. Vogeler was issued a cash only bond on the new charges of $25,000, with a stipulation not to drive a motor vehicle.

Saturday night, Sedalia Police Officers and Pettis County Deputies responded to the 3200 block of South Kentucky Avenue. They were attempting to locate and arrest Ezra Jackson Greene, 23, of Sedalia. Greene had an active Sedalia Municipal ordinance violation warrant for Failure to Appear on a Driving While Suspended charge. Greene was arrested without incident and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Bond was set at $100 cash only.


 

Deputies took a report of theft on the morning of November 4th. A tree stand was stolen from a property located in the 14000 block of Green Lawn Road, north of Route J. The investigation continues.
