The group Citizens Against Spousal Abuse is recognizing Sexual Assault Awareness month with a walk this Thursday, April 24 in Sedalia.

CASA’s mission is to empower domestic and sexual violence survivors to regain control of their lives through education, advocacy, and coordination of community resources. CASA is committed to providing safe temporary shelter, information on domestic and sexual violence, and advocacy/referrals for self sufficiency goals and victimization related issues.

CASA is there for the people who seek help every step of the way. That’s symbolized with the walk, which will start at the Bothwell Regional Health Center and end at the Pettis County Courthouse: the victims go for help at the hospital and end up at the courthouse, seeking justice.

I got to talk with event organizers Amanda Davis and Debbie Fisher about the walk itself, about the need for volunteers and donations and about the activities that will be going on with the walk.

Join in the fight with CASA and join the Awareness Walk on April 24. It’ll start at 5:15 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m. They’ll depart from the Bothwell Regional Health Center at 5:30 p.m. and arrive at the Pettis County Court House about 6:00 p.m. For more information, call CASA at 827-5555, visit casashelter.com or visit their Facebook page.

Walkingly yours,
Behka
