Randal Glenn Rowden, 61

Randal Glenn Rowden, 61, of Sedalia, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

He was born July 24, 1952, in St. Louis, son of the Rev. Lee Wesley and Ima Jean Shryock Rowden. On September 6, 1975, in Sedalia, he married Shirley Kay Howard, who survives of the home.

Randy worked for his father-in-law, Olen Howard, as foreman of Howard Quarries in Miami, MO. Later, he was a sales representative for Lafarge Corporation in Sedalia. Randy retired in 1998, but served for a year as the pastor of Living Waters Assembly of God in Sedalia. Regardless, he never stopped working on his own special projects.

Randy was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Living Waters Assembly of God.

Randy understood working hard and living life to its fullest. Nothing was more important to him than his God, his family, and enjoying every minute of life. It was hard to keep him in one place, as he would rather spend each day on the open road in his motor home or motorcycle with Shirley, his favorite traveling partner. Those travels took them to all 50 states and most recently across Route 66 in his newly restored '66 Cadillac de Ville convertible. Randy never met a stranger and his humor set others at ease. Above all else, his life preached Christ loud and clear. This is his legacy.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by a son, Micah Rowden, and his wife, Julie Brown, of Sedalia; a daughter, Christy Rowden, of Springfield; his mother, Ima Jean Rowden, of Columbia; and a brother, Rick Rowden, and wife, Julie, of Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Assembly, with Rev. Chris Gray officiating.

Casket bearers will be Gene North, Steve Moore, Bob Cox, Bobby Cox, Taylor Stocking and Hervil Cowin.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Navy and VFW Post 2591.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
