Richard Edward Gimple, 72, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at his home.

He was born September 3, 1941, in Sedalia, son of Carl William and Sarah Julia Reed Gimple. On May 20, 1962, in Sedalia, he married Wilma Edith Baslee, who preceded him in death on October 11, 2004.

Mr. Gimple was an active member of Grace Baptist Church. He retired from Missouri Public Service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and loved his dogs. He will be remembered for his unwavering ethics and as a loving dad and grandpa.

Surviving are three daughters, Julie M. Slocum (David), Angie Doyle (David), and Amie DeFord (Richard), all of Sedalia; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Jill, Seth (Megan), Dustin, Stephanie, Caleb, Nathaniel and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Emmalyn and Bently.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gimple.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Heckart Funeral Home, with the Rev. Alvin Sipe officiating.

Casket bearers will be Joseph Doyle, Seth Doyle, Dustin Slocum, Caleb DeFord, Nathaniel DeFord, Kevin Hayes, Jacob Mayers and Jim Randall.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Baptist Church.
