Richard Elwood Bremer, 76, of Sedalia, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born February 11, 1939, in Sedalia, son of Hersel Elwood and Ruth Louise Dietzel Bremer.

Richard was united in marriage to Leora Mae Ehlert on June 22, 1963, at the Grace Methodist Church in Higginsville, MO, by the Rev. Ed Watkins.

He graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1957 and then attended the University of Missouri in Kansas City. He worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City and was owner of ServiceMaster of Sedalia prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, where he served as president of the church council and on various other committees.
Richard was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Noonday Optimist, where he had served as president. He also performed in several Liberty Center productions.

Surviving are his wife, Leora, of the home; a son, Ryan Elwood Bremer, and his wife, Sara, of Alameda, CA; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Jayne Bremer; and a lifelong friend, Paul Fath.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Steve Buchholz officiating.

Casket bearers will be Aldon Ehlert, Russell Ehlert, Rhett Ehlert, Bryce Ehlert, Gary Case and Sam Mehan.
Honorary bearers will be Don Barbour, Walter Foster and Bob Wasson.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Heckart Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the church, or to the Richard and Leora Bremer Endowed Guest Lectureship in nursing at State Fair Community College.
