Robert Lee Ackerman, 77, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp.  He was born on September 26, 1935, in Mitchell, South Dakota, the fourth son of Coygn L. and Vesta (Strong) Ackerman.   As a child, his family moved to Smithton, Missouri, where they lived until his mother died and  his father remarried.  His father was married to Mary Canida, the family moved to rural Cole Camp.  He enjoyed working on the farm, spending time with friends, and playing basketball.  On February 17, 1952, he was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Hulda Lutheran Church of rural Cole Camp by Rev. Oscar Heimsoth.  He graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1953.   On April 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Catherine H. Gerike at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp with the Rev. Henry J. Gerike officiating.  Their 56 year union was blessed with three children:  Elizabeth, Lana, and Bradley.   Bob barbered in Sedalia and Cole Camp and was employed at Herman Lumber Company in Sedalia for 28 years until his retirement.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, where belonged to the Men's Club and enjoyed Thursday morning Men's Bible Class at Classic's with Pastor Kollbaum.  For several years, he coached soccer and basketball for the Sedalia Parks Department.  He loved to crappie fish, hunt, train his Brittany Spaniels, and especially spend time with his children and grandchildren.   Besides his wife, he is survived by:  two daughters, Elizabeth C. Ackerman of Cole Camp and Lana K. Ackerman Kelly and her husband Charles of Hughesville; one son, Bradley R. Ackerman and his wife, Ginger of Yakima, WA;  two brothers, Clyde Ackerman and Jerry Ackerman; two step-sisters, Wilma Canida Brauer of Cole Camp and Mary Heavner of Versailles; four step-brothers, Caroll Canida, Wilber Canida, and Loyde Canida, all of Cole Camp and  Carl Canida of Las Vegas, NV;  five grandchildren, Joseph, Caroline, Isabell, Ben, and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Coygn and Vesta Ackerman, his step-mother, Mary Ackerman, three brothers, Lyle Ackerman, Floyd Ackerman, and Donald Ackerman, one step-sister, Hazel Canida Kriesel, and one step-brother, Lester Canida.   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with  Pastor Todd Kollbaum officiating.  Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cole Camp.   The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on at the church.   The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Trinity Lutheran Endowment Fund or Alzheimer's Association in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.   Pallbearers will be Joseph Dino, Caroline Kelly, Dean Case, Jessie Case, Vernon Stelling, Pete Stelling, and Larry Stelling.  Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary, Jordan, and Ryan Kollbaum.
