Robert “Mike” Walkington, 53, of Sedalia passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home.   He was born on September 15, 1961 in Sedalia, a son of Robert and Marty (Pulley) Walkington, who survive of Sedalia.

Mike graduated from Green Ridge High School in 1979 and from Tulsa Welding School, Tulsa, OK.  He worked for Green Ridge and Windsor MFA’s and for Hamilton Brothers of Windsor, MO.  Mike was a farm hand for Bagby Farms of Green Ridge and for several years drove a truck for Morris Custom Spreading, LLC.  He most recently worked as a mechanic for Otten Small Engine, Sedalia. Mike was a hardworking, gentle and loving person. He enjoyed collecting die-cast toy trucks and was an avid John Wayne fan.  Mike enjoyed being outdoors, the company of his dog Charlie and loved his family greatly.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Gay Otten and (Mark) of Sedalia and Gina Staus and (Mike) also of Sedalia; two brothers, Robert Risner and (Marla) of Kansas City and Shane Walkington and (Kathy) of Sedalia; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Carolyn L. (Franklin) Walkington; maternal grandparents, John and Ona Mae Franklin; paternal grandparents, Louis and Marie Walkington and niece, Lydia Otten.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, March 20, 2015 at Rea Funeral Chapel, Sedalia with Rev. Ted Francis officiating.

Family will receive friends from 12:00 pm, until service time.

Burial will be at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Staus, Josh Staus, Ryan Risner, Isaiah Otten, Uriah Otten, Brent Pacheco, Ricky Rennison and Hansel Morris.

Honorary bearers will be Mike’s nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Sedalia Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral chapel.
