Robert Roy “Bob” Stapley, 68 of La Monte, passed away May 19, 2013 at St. Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute.  He was born in Sedalia, on March 31, 1945, the son of Ellis and Mildred (De Lapp) Stapley.   On December 26, 1965 in Bradenton, FL, he was united in marriage to Peggy Eason, who survives of the home.   He served his country honorably in the US Army in Vietnam (1965-1967) as a teletype operator in C Co. 36th Sig. Bat. handling communications for the 9th Inf Div. at, Long Thaun North, Vietnam.

Mr. Stapley was a farm equipment mechanic in the area for many years.  He enjoyed genealogy and volunteering for Christian Foundation for Children & Aging (CFCA).

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Claudia (Edie) of Shawnee, KS; one brother, Jerrold “Jerry” (Sondra) of Florence, MO and many other close relatives and good friends.

The family will hold a private family graveside service on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at The Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
