A one-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Pennsylvania man last night in Jackson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 52-year-old Gerard Holterback of Kersey, Pa., was the driver of an eastbound 2009 Peterbilt on eastbound I-70 (200 feet west of the 22.8 mile marker) that ran off the right side of the road and overturned. Holterback was pronounced dead on the scene by Jackson County Medical Examiner Peter Bingham at 10:40 p.m. He was not wearing a safety device, according to the report.

The Peterbilt was totaled and towed from the scene. The Blue Springs and Grain Valley Police, as well as Jackson County deputies, assisted the Patrol at the scene.
