An 11-year-old Stover boy was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred around 10 a.m. today (Wednesday morning) in Benton County on Highway C, .1 mile west of Highway E.

Daniel J. Nesbitt was an occupant in a westbound 2012 Chevy Equinox driven by 48-year-old June R. Anderson, Calhoun, when Anderson swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway and struck a bridge on the front passenger side of the vehicle. The Equinox traveled off the roadway, struck a barbed-wire fence and overturned several times before coming to rest.

Nesbitt was transported to Golden Valley Hospital by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance with minor injuries.

Both driver and occupant were wearing safety devices, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. The Equinox was totaled. The Benton County Sheriff's Office assisted the Patrol with the investigation.
