Smith-Cotton High School senior track athlete Keoni Hale has accepted an athletic scholarship to compete on the track and field team at Western Iowa Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Hale, the son of Dorothea Brown, of Sedalia, is a three-year varsity letterman and three-time All-West Central Conference selection. He earned All-State honors in the triple jump and holds Smith-Cotton records in the triple jump (47 feet, 2.5 inches) and high jump (6 feet, 8 inches).

S-C track & field head coach Brad Hagedorn said: “Keoni has had an exceptional career here at S-C. He is easily one of the best athletes to come through our program. He has a bright future at Iowa Western."

Iowa Western track head coach Emmett Statzer said: “We are very excited about what Keoni brings to the table for the 2017-2018 track and field season. We truly feel that he is one of the top freshman candidates that we brought in and look forward to seeing him grow and mature and turn into a phenomenal jumper and represent Iowa Western well.”
