A 21-year-old Sedalia man was arrested on May 13 for misusing 911. Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of S. Vermont for a report of a man on the phone with 911 who said he needed the police. Upon arrival, officers determined the man did not have any problems. The suspect reportedly called 911 five times over the course of two hours without any kind of emergency. It was later determined that 21-year-old Vicente Manquin-Asig was attempting to get deported back to his home country of Guatemala. The suspect was placed under arrest for misuse of 911 and was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on an ICE hold.


Sedalia Police were called to the 300 block of S. Lamine Ave. on May 13 around 1 a.m. for a report of several gunshots. According to a police report, police made contact with two people in the 300 block of S. Washington. One of them provided a false name and then fled on foot. He was tracked and located using a K9. Police say 27-year-old Clavin Wade Comfort was found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and had a felony failure to appear warrant from Pettis County. Comfort was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony resisting arrest and identity theft. Officers were unable to determine information regarding gunshots in the area.


A 63-year-old Sedalia man was arrested on May 12 after police were contacted about a disturbance at Denny's. Police were told that the man threw food inside the restaurant and left without paying. A woman followed the suspect and stayed on the line with dispatch to inform authorities of his location. The suspect reportedly became aggressive and threw rocks at her. 63-year-old Randall Leroy Hinsen was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold for stealing, assault, and peace disturbance. The unpaid bill was for $10.18.


On May 12, Pettis County Deputies responded to South 65 Highway near Dick's Honda in reference to a vehicle parked in the wrong lane of traffic. When deputies arrived on scene, the driver was found sleeping behind the wheel. The vehicle was placed into park and shut off. The driver, Chase D. Von-Sended was arrested on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated.


A Sedalia woman accused of stealing from Walmart was arrested on May 12 around 2:45 a.m. According to a police report, the woman left the store without paying for merchandise. Officers located the suspect and were involved in a short vehicle pursuit. 59-year-old Patricia Rainey Marden was taken into custody for stealing, resisting arrest and escape from confinement. She was transported to the Pettis County Jail. Police say a total of 57 items with a combined value of over $700 were stolen. The merchandise was recovered and returned to Walmart.


A 29-year-old Sedalia man was arrested on May 11 for second degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. Police were dispatched to the 400 block of E. 7th St. just before 11 a.m. to investigate a 911 hang up. An investigation revealed that an assault had taken place. The suspect, Ronnie C. Huffstutler, was identified and arrested. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges.
