Last week, I got the family more into the Christmas spirit and participated in the Sedalia Parks & Rec Candy Cane Hunt that happened on Friday, December 12 at 6 pm.

I love this idea of kids, between the ages of 7-12, being told to go to a certain area of Liberty Park and hunt for candy canes with a flash light and bag. Some of these candy canes had big prizes and then there were things like pencils, bubbles, small trinkets and of course candy canes that the kids could look for.

There were probably about 10-15 kids that participated in it this year, but they searched for about a half-hour before being called back into Convention Hall for some hot cocoa, cookies and cupcakes.

Everyone left with a smile on their face and it certainly was a good time for my family. This is the first time I've gone to it and I look forward to it next year.
