Sedalia man arrested on multiple charges Tuesday night

At 10:14 Tuesday night, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle at Broadway and Moniteau with a driver known to be revoked. Upon contact with the driver, 18-year-old Xavier Zuniga of Sedalia, he was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon, driving while suspended and several drug related charges. At the time of the police report, Zuniga was on 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail pending formal charges.

Traffic stop this (Wednesday) morning results in arrest for a 43-year-old man

Just before 5:00 this (Wednesday) morning, Sedalia police stopped a vehicle at 16th and Prospect for a driver who was reportedly revoked. During an investigation, the driver provided the officer with a false identification. Upon confirmation of the man’s identification, 43-year-old Nery Gonzalez of Sedalia, he was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail.  Gonzalez was placed on 24-hour hold pending formal charges of identification theft and driving while revoked.

Sedalia police investigate a possible abandoned and abused dog

Around 10:00 Tuesday morning, Sedalia police investigate the report of a possibly abused and abandoned dog at a residence in the 100 block of South Grand. The police report states the dog was without food or water. The owner of the animal failed to contact the police for a 24-hour period, so the dog was taken to the shelter for safe keeping. Further investigation is going on in the case.

Stolen items reported from a Lamonte farm

The Pettis County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from a Lamonte man that someone had stolen items from his farm located off of FF Highway in Pettis County. There are no suspects at news time.

The Sunset Motel at 3615 South Limit reported a blanket was taken from the motel overnight on Tuesday.
