The following Sedalia Police and Pettis County Sheriff's reports are from the morning of Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013.

Sedalia Police Assist Division of Family Services

Last night (Jan 23), Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1000 Block of East 3rd to assist the Division of Family Services (DFS) in a child investigation. Michael Smith was charged with possession of meth, drug paraphernalia and child endangerment. Tabitha Rose was charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and child endangerment in the 1st degree. Three children were placed into emergency placement with the Division of Family Services.

Several Thefts Reported in Area

A woman in the 1600 Block of East 10th reported to Sedalia Police that a Davis Industries, D-25, .25 caliber, chrome plated Derringer was stolen sometime between Jan. 6 and Jan. 19.

Sedalia Police are investigating a possible burglary that occurred in the 100 Block of Gentry Avenue. Witnesses say that they saw two suspects behind the home that walked away carrying a space heater. Sedalia Police found the owner of the home was out of town at the time of the report, but they found the glass of the back door had been shattered.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Office received a report of a theft from a home in the 16000 Block of Ionia Road in Windsor.

Pettis County Sheriff's Department Involved in Short Pursuit

Pettis County Deputies arrested Christie Petree of Sedalia for resisting arrest following a short vehicle pursuit on Pettis Street in Sedalia. Pettis County Deputies also arrested Gordell Poindexter for an active warrant for his arrest and resisting arrest.
